There are some photos we click with no definite reason or purpose in mind. A moment you subconsciously want to capture. You just feel a voice within, urging you to be impulsive,… with the conviction that it will have a role to play in your life. As the scene outside mirrored my emotional state, with colors popping out clear on a cloudy, stormy Iowan evening,..it inspired me to write a poem, which I called “Musings from a Spot”. However, I always had a nagging feeling that this moment was meant for some other piece of expression, one that sat more in harmony with it.
When I wrote the piece I have below, I had no picture in mind. The first verse came out in a burst, I sat there, writing furiously in almost a vehement emptiness,. and the second one weeks later, almost as a gentle reassurance. And at that moment, I knew why I took that snap,..on yet another grad-school evening as I sat at office, musing on chaos and peace, from my spot near the window. We are all going to live through periods heavy with soul shattering darkness,..But we are, I promise you, going to find our own little light each time that will be full of life, enabling us, if not to vanquish those moments completely, to conquer and make peace with them on our own terms, fueled by hope 🙂

A fog of her own, cheer up!, they say
Birds sing, the colors, what a wonderful day!
To be the eye that sees that glory
Oh what would I not give; Stop this sad story!
The hypocrisy, oh my, look at her!
When she twirls and laughs and pretends as were
‘Cause exist they can’t in one, can they?
Birds sing, the colors, what a wonderful day..,.
Dark and gloomy it need not be
To hold her hand, truly begin to see
When she tears and smiles, pauses as were
A quiet understanding, Oh! Look at her
How hard she tries! Striving to make sense,
Again and again, through the mild and intense
Dark and gloomy, it shall not always be.
Be there, my friend. And she will break free.
